The Dark Art of Candle Care: Keeping Your Flame Strong
Share
Candles aren’t just wax and wick—they’re vessels of mood, ritual, and energy. At Twisted Jades, each candle is crafted with intention, and like any good spell, it burns brightest when cared for properly. Here’s how to make your candle last longer, burn cleaner, and stay as enchanting as the first light.
🔮 Trim the Wick (Your First Ritual)
Before each burn, trim your wick to about ¼ inch. This prevents sooty smoke, tunneling, and wild flames. A clean-cut wick is like a sharpened blade—it ensures a precise, powerful burn.
🔮 The First Burn Sets the Spell
The very first burn is the most important. Allow your candle to melt across the entire surface before extinguishing. This creates a smooth, even “memory pool” and prevents the dreaded tunneling. Patience here means a longer-lasting candle.
🔮 Don’t Overburn
As tempting as it is to let your candle burn through the night, don’t let it go longer than 4 hours at a time. Too long and the wax overheats, shortening the candle’s lifespan (and breaking the magic).
🔮 Snuff, Don’t Blow
Always extinguish your candle with a snuffer or by dipping the wick into the wax. Blowing it out can cause smoke and scatter ash, disrupting the vibe of your ritual.
🔮 Energy Matters
Candles are more than fragrance—they hold energy. Burn them with intention, whether it’s for relaxation, protection, or simply to fill your lair with hauntingly beautiful scents.
✨ Caring for your candle means caring for the magic inside. Treat it well, and it will return the favor.
